Modern Retro Image Design

I work a lot with Adobe Photoshop and other imaging programs, and I search for add-on items for those programs called filters, brushes, and styles. They also have some really cool fonts as well. While searching for some cool brushes and styles, I ran across this website:

MisterRetro.com

They have a bunch of really neat images, and add on’s for Photoshop. I really like the vintage style that they use in their images. It reminds me of the days when going to lounges was on everyone’s schedule to see the top performers, such as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Wayne Newton, Bobby Darin and many more. These are a few vector images off their website that they have on their website showing the use of this style:

Photoshop Filters

Filters are plugins that you can use to spiff up an image in many different ways. The “permanent press” filter makes photos look like they came out of old magazines and news papers. This would be a great plug-in for someone doing a comic book.

Here are examples of the “permanent press” filter that they have available on their website:

With the Machine Wash filter, you can give photos texture and make it look as if they are on a side of a barn, stone wall, and many others. Here are a few examples of their “machine wash” filter:

If you want these filters you can purchase them on their website. They have a lot of neat images to go through. They have a really nice website so please check them out if you are interested in either purchasing fonts, filters, or even purchase their book titled, Tiki Mugs”

I also wanted to add that I have personally designed a business card for this blog. I spent 4 days trying to come up with a design that I was happy with, and being the perfectionist I am, I scrapped most of the first designs.  Here is the final design:

Tell me what you think.
